For all people in difficult circumstances, and unfamiliar ones, practical approaches to providing support begin with psychological support.

That support can arise from various sources, whether spontaneously or through a structured process.

Yet support must always be appropriate.

Inappropriate attempts at providing support often cause more harm than good, in much the same way as empty platitudes and inappropriate attitudes.
